when is the vote over?
I'm pretty certain it's over, We've lost.. VoteYesOn2 Won... Damnit...
This is horrible! I not gay, nor am I in a Union. This is Unconstitutional, disciminatory, and plain hateful. We lost because some book said so. We can still fight this everyone. When they bring it to court, we need to fight it!
Can we bring this to the Supreme Court? Will we? Maybe by the time it is heard, Obama will be in office and he is pro civil unions so he may change minds. :)
No matter what Obama passes, no federal law except the constitution can override a state constitution. So Obama could pass 1000 new laws allowing anyone to marry but as long as amendment 2 is in our state constitution there is no way around it. Unless of course we take it to supreme court saying it is unconstitutional. Luckily, prop 8 didn't pass in CA. Unfortunately, ours and Arizona's did.
This is a state right. Obama needs to stay out of it. No more Federal government interference on issues that should be decided at the state level!!!!
By the way I voted No, but some of the posts on this board like:
" a state they bank on for pushing their divisive tactics. Only by deceiving voters, were they able to pass this amendment and that is why we will continue to educate the public on the value of all families."
Is bogus. People have a right to disagree. I actually think deceiving and divisive tactics have come from those who were against the amendments. Again I voted No, so don't flame me for defending the rights of those who are for this amendment.
So what do we do now? What is the repeal process?
